Preventing unauthorized reselling of your 3D designs

Miller.G
So I recently found one of my fantasy warrior models being sold on some sketchy site for $5. I never listed it there. It’s frustrating, because I don’t even charge for my files — I just post them for free on my blog. Why would someone steal and resell that? I’m not even sure how to report it or prove it’s mine. Does anyone deal with this stuff? How do you protect your designs when they’re shared for free?

That really sucks, and yeah, it happens more than people think. I’ve dealt with the same — it’s demotivating. One thing that helped me was switching to platforms like https://www.gambody.com/ where there’s a bit more oversight and copyright control. You can actually track your downloads and keep it all a bit tighter. Plus, when models come from a trusted source, buyers are less likely to end up on shady resale sites.

It’s sad that free models get stolen just like paid ones. I think some people don’t realize how much work goes into even simple designs. I’m not a seller myself, but I’ve seen similar things happen in the digital art community too. People will rip off anything.
