KARACHI: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) announced on Wednesday a two-day public holiday for Ashura, corresponding to the 9th and 10th of Muharram, 1446 AH, which fall on July 16 and 17, 2024.The SBP made this announcement concerning the closure of bank operations for Ashura.
Earlier, the federal government declared a two-day public holiday for Muharram 9 and 10.
the Prime Minister is pleased to declare 16th and 17th July, 2024 (Tuesday and Wednesday) as public holidays on the occasion of Ashura (9th & 10th Muharram 1446 AH),” stated a notification issued by the Cabinet Division.
Muslims around the world will observe Ashura with grief and sorrow.
To ensure security during Muharram, the government has approved the deployment of the Pakistan Army and Civil Armed Forces (CAF) across the country.
