Ink is drawn link across a pad that holds the relief of the text to be printed on the dial. A gelatin is pressed onto the pad lifting up that ink. The machine slides the pad out of the way and shifts the dial into perfect link position for the gelatin to press the text in this case the iconic Gothic font of "Grand Seiko" onto the dial. If there's link any extra ink on the pad it too will be picked up by the gelatin so it's important that the preparation is done correctly.

Whether that time link comes or not at 3400 and given its hefty specifications the Big Crown Pointer Date Calibre 403 still represents exceptional value for money as Oris watches always do. The earlier value question is relative to Oriss wider collection rather link than the market as a whole. Tudors still the best comparison and the two are pretty much neck-and-neck here subject to more personal considerations of design and link to a lesser extent build quality.
