Bernard at 21 years old hasn't wasted any time making his name as a top guillocheur around Europe. While he's trained in watchmaking it's the old art of hand engraving and engine turning that's guided his budding link career. He trained under the engraver Alain Lovenberg as well as interning link at Jaeger-LeCoultre's link Métiers Rares department.

Platinum isn't for everyone and certainly only for those willing to request the price of a platinum Rolex. This is the sort of watch that dreams are made of. I put it on and I think about who I could be link if I wore this every day. But I can also appreciate the technical achievement that went into link crafting the bezel and allowing this new version to exist in the world. Sure it doesn't have lumed markers or indices but who cares The platinum glows plenty bright. link

That may have been the case nine years ago but I think the new-for-2022 Speedmaster '57 link has link nailed its watch-nerd quotient. In my mind the updated '57 line is ready to assume the role once occupied by the CK 2998-inspired "First Omega In Space" as a vintage-inspired manual-wind alternative positioned right next to link the classic Speedmaster Moonwatch Professional.

When the surprises come, they are wonderful. Think back to link Jay-Z in his Grandmaster link Chime at the Grammys and Jake Gyllenhaal in a Tank Chinoise at last year's Oscars. link More of this, please! I personally prefer the Met Gala for a more liberated approach to the accessories game, but the Academy Awards are – at least for now – still the bigger deal.

Watches on offer in an auction from our August 16, 2024 edition all found new wrists to call home.
