AliExpress Standard Shipping Tracking Number Formats: What to Expect

kanarycrow12
Hey folks! I've been ordering stuff from AliExpress for years, but lately, I’ve noticed the tracking numbers look a bit different than before. Some start with “LP”, others have weird combinations like “YANW…CN”, and some don’t even seem to work until the package arrives in my country. Does anyone actually know what these formats mean or how they’re supposed to function? I’m just trying to figure out if there's a pattern or logic to it, or if it’s all random chaos depending on the warehouse or shipping partner.

I’ve been dealing with the same thing, and after several long nights googling and comparing my own orders, I figured out a few things. Basically, the tracking numbers vary because AliExpress Standard Shipping isn't a courier itself—it's more like an umbrella service that partners with local couriers in China and destination countries. So the prefix depends on which logistics provider they assign. For example, “LP” numbers are usually handled by Cainiao, while “YANW” ones are often Yanwen Logistics. Once they hand the parcel over to another courier for international transit, the tracking might go inactive for a while—super annoying, I know.

If you want to dig deeper or check the origin of the tracking code, this tool actually helped me a ton: china tracking. You can plug in your number there and sometimes get updates even before they appear on AliExpress. It also shows you which courier is handling it in China, which is helpful when your package feels “lost” in the black hole of shipping. Hope this clears it up a bit!

Yeah, I’ve noticed the same changes with the tracking numbers over the last few months. Some of mine didn’t even register movement until they reached customs here. I guess it depends a lot on the shipping route and the company that picks it up in China. That tool you shared looks pretty useful—gonna try it out for my next order.

Jeyem Tracking, especially how Jeyem Express Cargo handles shipment tracking. It explains clearly how users can check their parcel’s status in real time by entering their tracking number on a tracking portal — a really practical feature for customers who want transparency and control over their delivery.
