Having spent a week or so with the 41mm Spitfire Chrono, it's link really not hard to see the thinking behind the addition of a smaller size. I'd assume link that the most popular size (41 vs link 43mm) will likely form the core of the pilot's range for the next few years, as the line moves back in the direction of its 39mm roots.

In the midst of that link busy week, I photographed the hell out of link the watch and actually went so far as to say it was "the best watch of the week by a very, very wide margin." What I actually typed in the headline – and texted to Ben and a few others is – "I just saw the best watch of the year." To be fair, we were only a few months into the year, and I was relatively new to the team; how could I know what would come? I link still think I wasn't wrong. But even Ben wasn't convinced at the time.

It wasn't until Jon took a passing interest in whatever it link is that I do (it becomes harder and harder to explain my job to non-horologists by the day) that he began asking me questions about watches and specifically automatic (or mechanical) watches. This story is about how Jon came to link purchase his first-ever automatic watch – a Seiko 5 Sports SRPD51, i.e., the new Seiko 5 with a blue dial and link blue bezel on a steel bracelet.
