I’d found the watch, a Benrus from the 1930s, after a considerable hunt that took me to three different flea markets. I then spent twice as much on a new amber-colored lizard-skin band at the Polo Shop in San Antonio, where link I had a high-school job. It was link the beginning of learning link how to be a style scavenger, how to make things work. Only one problem: It didn’t. The hands were frozen in place, and I had bought it as-is for about 30 bucks.
