I’ve been exploring different mutual fund categories lately, and I wanted to start a discussion around small cap mutual funds. These funds are known for their high growth potential, especially during bullish market cycles. While they can be risky due to market volatility, they’ve also delivered significant returns over the long term.

Many of us here are regular investors using SIPs (Systematic Investment Plans) to build wealth gradually. So, I wanted to ask the community — what do you think is the best SIP to invest today if someone is looking specifically at the small cap category?

From what I’ve researched, small cap mutual funds have been outperforming in recent years. Schemes like Nippon India Small Cap Fund, Quant Small Cap Fund, and SBI Small Cap Fund are getting a lot of attention due to their consistent long-term performance. Some of these funds have given double-digit CAGR over the past 5–7 years, which is quite impressive.

That said, it’s also important to consider the current market environment and risk tolerance. Small caps can be volatile, so starting an SIP with a long-term horizon (say 5–7 years) is crucial. Also, choosing funds with a strong fund management team and a clear investment strategy can make a huge difference.

Personally, I’ve started a small SIP in the Quant Small Cap Fund recently, after reading multiple reviews and doing some risk-return comparisons. But I’m still researching and would love to hear your thoughts.
