I’m thinking about ordering a few QSFP-40G-SR4-S modules for short 40G links inside our data center, but before I hit purchase I want to get a feel for what life is like after deployment. We already have multimode MPO fiber in place, and turning that into reliable 40G connectivity seems like the most efficient path without ripping and re-cabling.
A couple of things I’m curious about from real users:
Has your experience with QSFP-40G-SR4-S been mostly plug-and-play, or do you find yourself spending extra time on MPO polarity and cleaning than you expected?
Any quirks with specific switch vendors or firmware versions that made you rethink how you deploy them? Some folks mention that even small differences in how MPO is terminated can lead to flaps — wondering if that has been your experience.
Also curious about long term stability. Once these have been live for weeks or months, do you ever see issues crop up that were not obvious at first?
I’d really appreciate hearing about real world use of
QSFP-40G-SR4-S before I finalize the order. Did it live up to expectations, or were there gotchas that only showed up after the modules were in service? Thanks!
