Germany suspends visa services in THIS Pakistani cityKARACHI: The German consulate in Karachi, Pakistan, has temporarily suspended its services for non-European Union (EU) citizens due to “imminent security concerns.”
According to a consulate statement, this suspension affects non-EU citizens seeking visas, passports, and other consular services. However, non-EU citizens with already issued visas can still collect them.
The consulate’s spokesperson, Aisha Abdul Qayyum, declined to provide further details on the security concerns. The suspension is a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of consulate staff and visitors, with services likely to resume once the security concerns are addressed.
Pakistan has seen an increase in militant attacks since the TTP ended its truce with the government in November 2022. The western provinces of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan have been particularly affected, with insurgents targeting Chinese nationals working on China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects.
