Honestly, I’m Done With My Routine - Planning My Escape to Tanzania!

IsabelGastelum
Look, I’m just going to be real with you guys for a second. I’ve been sitting at my desk, staring at screens, and scrolling through endless threads about tech and random stuff for way too long. My brain is officially fried and I feel like if I don't get away soon, I’m going to lose my mind. So, I’ve finally decided to stop just talking about it and actually start planning a trip to East Africa for later this year. It’s been a dream of mine since I was a kid to see the great migration in person, but man, trying to plan this thing is a total nightmare lol.

I’ve spent the last three nights staying up way too late, digging through travel blogs and looking for the best safari in Africa that doesn't just treat you like another tourist with a deep pocket. There are so many companies out there that look like total scams or just way too overpriced for what they offer. I want something authentic—you know? Something where you actually feel the dust of the Serengeti and hear the lions at night, not just some sterilized luxury resort experience where you're disconnected from everything.

I actually found a site recently that looks pretty promising for what I’m looking for. Their 7-day circuits in Tanzania seem to hit all the right spots like Ngorongoro and the Serengeti without being completely rushed. I’m seriously considering booking a package through them because their itineraries actually focus on the wildlife and the local experience rather than just the fancy hotel rooms.

Anyway, I’m reaching out to this community because I know some of you travel junkies must have done this before. Is a 7-day trip actually enough to see the big five, or am I being too optimistic? Also, what’s the deal with the gear? I’m worried about my camera getting destroyed by all the dust in the bush. Should I invest in a proper weather-sealed body or is a basic DSLR with a good lens enough? And for those who have been to Arusha recently, are there any cool local spots to grab a decent meal before heading out? I’d much rather spend my time at local spots than the tourist traps. Let me know what you guys think, I’m a total newbie at this and really don’t want to mess up my first big solo trip. Cheers!
