Fascinating Facts About the Red Headed Woodpeckers

emmadelay24
The Red-headed Woodpecker is a striking bird known for its bold red head, black-and-white wings, and powerful beak. Found across North America, especially in open woodlands, this species is one of the few woodpeckers that stores food by wedging insects and nuts into tree bark. Unlike many woodpeckers, it is a strong flier and often catches insects mid-air. Red-headed Woodpeckers are also known for their drumming behavior, used to mark territory and attract mates.
