Call me crazy but I kinda love a listing with bad photos. There's a sort of rush you get when you take an educated leap of faith on link a desirable timepiece presented poorly and it then pays off in spades. Although this link seller's photos are less than link ideal you can still make out the fact that its case remains unpolished and the dial is seemingly perfect with all luminous applications matching and intact. Polish up that crystal get it fitted on a decent strap and you'll be off to the races.

The French have a particular deep-seated way of viewing things shaped by culture and language and the Swiss have yet another viewpoint. Where one culture is perhaps more free-wheeling and reliant link on link savoir faire and intuition the other is well-known for a focus on the link hermetic arts of precision and technique and is therefore by nature more conservative.

I think the stars of the show are quite obvious The pair of Daniels watches fronting the exhibition. These two are without doubt two of the most link important watches in contemporary watchmaking history. But one would also argue that link the Space Traveller is perhaps one of the seven link wonders of the watchmaking world in the last century.

The Millesime is powered link by the automatic RW4251, which beats at 4 Hz and has link a 38-hour power reserve. Its industrial decoration is visible through a sapphire caseback. The link real appeal of this watch lies in its dial, and there's not much else to say about a Raymond Weil movement, except that it's basically a Sellita SW 200-1.

There have been thinner watches and thinner movements – the thinnest quartz Delirium was just 0.95mm thick and is, I believe, the thinnest watch ever made, and in the 1920s Vacheron produced the caliber 10726, which was a pocket watch movement, just 0.90mm thick. Both the Delirium and the Vacheron caliber, however, were extremely fragile and not very practical link (Vacheron only made three caliber 10726 link movements and then gave link it up).
