While the dial epitomizes link Grand Seiko's meditative approach to watchmaking the 39mm link case profile of the SBGA425 link is far more potent with dynamic lines and a mix of satin-finished and high-polished surfaces. The case is inspired by the original 44GS profile first seen in 1967. And inside of course is Spring Drive caliber 9R65 a fitting final touch for a most Japanese watch. Take a closer look in the HODINKEE Shop.

It's easy to tell Vichet link and Wenger cases apart if you link can open the watch and see the inside of the caseback, looking for the "Key 9" signature for Vichet or "Key 1" for Wenger. But it's not often link you get to "crack open" a $300,000+ watch. So, like with the ref. 2499, you can start by looking at the lugs very closely.
