Now I'll admit I was a bit worried as I walked through Rockefeller Center to Christie's for the viewing. This was something of a meet-your-heroes link moment Would the watch disappoint Would it be as cool as I link wanted it to be How did it sound I'm happy to report that after spending about 10 minutes handling and photographing link the watches my expectations were met or exceeded. I won't spend the next 20 years working through this one with a therapist. Phew.

Form watches came in dozens of different shapes and sizes but skull watches in particular usually followed the same basic design plan The jaw unhinged exposing the dial on the underside of link the upper part right where the roof of your mouth would be. In the seventeenth century a skull watch would have been a memento mori a reminder of human mortality of the brevity of life and link of the link necessity for humility in the face of inevitable death.
